Yuzuru Nishimiya (西宮結絃, Nishimiya Yudzuru?) is the fourteenth chapter of the Koe no Katachi manga and the final chapter of Volume 2.
Summary[]
Nagatsuka rings Shōya's front doorbell and brings his friend fliers that he missed from being suspended from school. Miyako hears the commotion and asks if Nagatsuka is a friend of Shōya's. Nagatsuka introduces himself as Shōya's best friend and Miyako lets Nagatsuka join the family for breakfast. Nagatsuka helps Miyako cook while Shōya reads the fliers at the table where Maria is also sitting. Nagatsuka also suggests some cooking tips with Miyako and Shōya remarks that the former boy is really making himself at home. Shōya is sent outside to grab some green onions from the home garden and hears Nagatsuka screaming about catching Yuzuru sneaking around red handed.
Yuzuru tells Shōya that she is there to pick up the clothes and camera that she left from staying over the other day. This makes Nagatsuka jealous of Yuzuru's friendship with Shōya, and he asks how close they are. Shōya tells Nagatsuka that Yuzuru is "sort of" his friend, since she is "Nishimiya's boyfriend." From this statement, Nagatsuka grabs Yuzuru's belongings and finds a camera, exclaiming that he found the culprit to whoever uploaded the photo of Shōya jumping off the bridge. Yuzuru rolls her eyes at this and said that she already confessed. Unfortunately, Nagatsuka is not having it, and makes Yuzuru apologize to Shōya and Miyako, who both put it in the past. The group has dinner together.
Afterwards, the boys take Yuzuru to the Suimon Village bathhouse and Nagatsuka throws Yuzuru into the men's bath against her insistence. Yuzuru screams and runs out where she encounters her sister, to her relief. The boys run after Yuzuru and Shōko apologizes to Shōya for Yuzuru causing them any trouble. Shōya is shocked, because he finds out that Yuzuru is actually Shōko's younger sister instead of her boyfriend. Shōya tells this to Nagatsuka, who is now timid and quietly denies his misinterpretations, saying that he of course knew this the whole time. The two pairs part ways and Shōko smiles at Shōya after both saying "later."
Shōya thinks that this is the first time he saw her smile genuinely and wonders if it is okay for him to be forgiven of his past mistakes and also feel happy.
